Baby found safe in Baltimore after Amber Alert issued

An 11-month-old baby last seen inside a car that was stolen in Baltimore has been located after an Amber Alert was issued Wednesday afternoon.

Baltimore police say this all began at around 1:30 p.m. when the mother of the baby was bringing grocery into her home from her vehicle. While her son was still inside the SUV, a teenage suspect walking on the street jumped into the woman's vehicle that was still running and took off.

Police say the child, Leo Garcia Lopez, was found safe in a car seat on a sidewalk in Northeast Baltimore off of Shannon Drive near Sinclair Lane by a passerby about 10 minutes away from where the vehicle was stolen. Police believe the boy was apparently dropped off there by the suspect. The baby was taken to the hospital for observation, but he appears to be fine.

At around 6:10 p.m., police announced that officers and detectives located the suspect and the stolen vehicle.
