Ole Miss Football Star Robert Nkemdiche Suspended From Sugar Bowl

- Former Grayson High School standout Robert Nkemdiche's college football career is over. The Ole Miss star announced Sunday morning that he is declaring for the NFL Draft. Additionally, Ole Miss has decided to suspend Nkemdiche from their Sugar Bowl appearance.

Last Sunday, the junior defensive lineman Nkemdiche was involved in an incident where he fell out of a hotel room in Buckhead. Atlanta police charged him with possession of marijuana.

"While I wish I could have finished this journey with my team. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this program, and I am ready to begin the next phase of my life," said Nkemdiche in a statement from the school posted on Twitter by the Oxford Eagle. "I have learned a valuable lesson in the last week, and I look forward to showing NFL personnel that this is not representative of my true character."

In a statement from the school, Ole Miss football head coach Hugh Freeze said he and the school's athletic director told Nkemdiche he was suspended from the bowl game last week.

"I look forward to sharing with NFL general managers and scouts what a unique and talented individual [Nkemdiche] is," said Freeze.

The NFL Draft starts April 30th. Nkemdiche is projected by many outlets as a first round pick.
