Online dating has become one of the most popular avenues for finding your love connection.
There are websites for the casual dater, dating for farmers, dating for pet lovers, and the list goes on.
However, in the year 2014 you may be surprised to learn that there are not many dating websites for those with special needs.
A family from Buford, Georgia, decided to change that by creating SpecialBridge.com.
The website is a private, online social community designed to help meet the social and emotional needs of its members.
The site launched six months ago and has about 200 members from across the world.
Lauren Ellis and her fiancé Michael Robbins designed the site with Lauren's sister, Jaclyn Key, in mind.
Jaclyn tells FOX 5 Atlanta that she didn't have much luck on other dating websites.
"It seemed to be harder for a person with all my limitations," said Key. "I felt like I had to hide most of myself."
The website offers a basic membership for $7 a month, or $12 a month for full access.
Safety is a top priority for the website creators.
"We knew this was a fragile community," said Robbins. "We actually screen each new member that comes in."
Robbins said they have had to filter and block certain people from using the website.
"We encourage our users to contact us if anyone makes them feel uncomfortable," said Ellis.
When it comes to making new friends and meeting potential romantic connections, the family hopes that Special Bridge can help.
