3 shot in DeKalb County liquor store shootout

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A gunfight at a DeKalb County liquor store parking lot sent three men, including the store owner and a suspected robber to the hospital.

Police say the owner arrived at the US-1 Package store on Wesley Chapel Road around midnight, possibly to the collect the day's profits. Before he got to the front door, at least three men approached him. Detectives think they were planning on robbing the owner. One of the men was armed and shot the owner in the chest.  Paramedics rushed him to Grady in serious but stable condition.

A man shopping inside the store, who is a correction officer at a local jail, heard the gunfire and rushed outside. That man then opened fire on the gunman, hitting him in the back. The injured suspect robber was also taken to Grady. Another man was shot in the foot.  Police are trying to determine if he was involved in the robbery, or possibly just caught in the crossfire.  

Officers also arrested two other men, who are suspected of taking part in the attempted robbery.
