Police: Three killed in separate southwest Atlanta shootings

Atlanta homicide detectives are investigating three different murders which took place in southwest Atlanta, all within five miles and three hours apart.

The first shooting happened on Smith Street. That's where three men were hit as they stood on the sidewalk. Investigators are calling the shooting a drive-by, telling us that a red pickup came down the street with the people inside firing as they passed the trio.

Multiple shots were discharged and a 22-year-old died. The other two victims, born in 1979 and 1980, were rushed to Grady with leg wounds. They are expected to survive.

Police said one of the survivors ran to a nearby house looking for help. Detectives said the shooting appears to have stemmed from an earlier argument the victims and shooters got into. Police found multiple weapons at the scene, but they aren't sure who they belong to.

An hour later a man died after being shot at a Shell gas station on Cascade Road. Witnesses told investigators the victim, who was with two women, got into an argument with another man. The gunman pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the chest.  He died at the scene.

Detectives are hoping store surveillance video will help them identify the gunman.

Then after 11 p.m., a third deadly shooting took place on Alison Court. Police said a man was sitting in a car when a guy walked up and an altercation broke out. That's when the guy on foot pulled out a shotgun and fired a single shot, killing the man in the car.

Police don't know what triggered the fight that caused the violence.

No arrests have been made in any of the three killings. In fact, detectives don't have good suspect descriptions of the shooters.
