Suspect accused of stealing lost wallet sought

- Authorities are searching for a suspect who they say stole a wallet unknowingly left behind by a customer at a convenience store in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a person forgot their wallet on the counter at Zack’s Too in Hoschton. Once the owner of the wallet left, a black male shown in security video picked up the wallet, acted as if he was taking it to the owner in the parking lot, and then put the wallet in his pocket, authorities said.

The suspect was driving a maroon Ford SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer, with a drive out paper tag affixed to the rear of the vehicle, according to authorities. The vehicle was last seen turning right onto Highway 53, heading toward Braselton around 5 p.m. on May 2nd.

Anyone with identifying information is asked to contact Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 706-387-6053.
