“There had to be about ten minutes and I heard a boom and I keep playing it in my head. We ran upstairs where the door was locked, I saw my baby in a pool of blood,” Shaniqua Stephens reflected.

Malachi's godmother said the teen shot himself in the head while he was live on Instagram.

The Family shared a picture of the youngster holding the loaded gun to dramatize the dangers of kids playing with guns.

Mrs. Stephens said right after the shooting happened, but before the police arrived about 40 neighborhood children ran to her house in a panicked.

Malachi was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, but died some time later.

“He was on Instagram Live with a gun and a lot of his friends saw this. If someone would have said something, maybe Malachi would be still here today,” said Godmother Shanteria Bankston.

Forest Park Police said they are actively investigating from where the gun came Investigators said they will charge someone if warranted.

Meantime, the Stephens are forced to plan a funeral for a young man who was loved and referred to as the life of the party.

The Stephens had no life insurance and are raising money for the funeral through a GoFundMe account that bears Hemphill’s name.
