Local animal shelters to waive adoption fees on Election Day

- Local animal shelters are waiving adoption fees on Election Day for anyone bearing an “I voted” sticker.

On Tuesday, four LifeLine Animal Project shelters are opening their doors and waiving fees to encourage people to vote and find permanent homes for pets in need.

Even if you’re not decided about which candidate to choose this election season, shelter officials are hoping two presidential pooches will, at least, make your decision to adopt a little easier.

The folks at LifeLine Animal Project dressed up two shelter dogs as the 2016 presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Clinton is portrayed by Pokie, a five-month-old, female, terrier mix, who is said be very loving and playful. Trump is played by Vivica, a two-year-old, female, shepherd mix, who, adoption officials say, is very sweet and loves to give kisses. Both pets are available at the DeKalb County Animal Services.
