ATLANTA - For many people, a church is the one place where you can expect to have peace.
But families at one southeast Atlanta church experienced everything but that Sunday after a string of car break-ins.
Members of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Street told FOX 5 News a trio of thieves broke into nearly a dozen cars during service. The hooded crew made off with cash, laptops, credit cards and other valuables, according to longtime member Martha Stewart.
"The devil is busy. We were in there praising, and he was out here tearing cars up," Stewart said.
The church's pastor told FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell surveillance cameras caught the crooks in the act.
He shared the footage with Atlanta Police, in hopes, it will lead to arrests.
This was the first case of car break-ins at the church in its 36 years, according to ministry leaders.
