$20K of illegal narcotics seized in Habersham County drug bust

A Habersham County man was arrested during a major drug bust on Wednesday following a 6-month investigation. 

John Mark Sims, 52, has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of marijuana. He was arrested at his home located in the 200 block of Hubert Harris Road. 

Six ounces of methamphetamine, five ounces of marijuana, a handgun, and $1,660 were seized from Sims' home. The street value of the illegal drugs was about $20,000.

Sims was taken to the Habersham County Detention Center. 

The Habersham County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Community Supervision, the Department of Corrections' K-9 Unit, and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office were involved in the 6-month-long investigation.
