Some Atlanta area activists are remembering fellow students who died in the Sandy Hook School shooting six years ago Friday.

They held a vigil Friday night at Virginia-Highland Church honoring the 26 people who died when 20-year-old Adam Lanza went on a shooting rampage in Newtown, Connecticut.

One Etowah High School student we talked to explains what inspired her to help.

The goal of the vigil was to bring communities together to come up with ways to prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again.
