There's a new member of the Smyrna Police Department, and – with apologies to the rest of the force – he'll be the cutest member as well.

On Wednesday, the department will introduce K-9 Officer Max to the area. Max, a 1-year-old chocolate Labrador, will be taking the place of retiring K-9 Officer Paco.

Max is partnered with Officer Travis Seller, a four-year veteran of the force, as part of the department's Special Operation Division.

Max's name was chosen by the students of Belmont Hills Elementary after a visit to the school.

He'll be working in community relations as well as narcotics detection.

From one place with an amazing Max to another, we wish little Max the best on his patrols!
