A nonprofit in Cumming is thankful for community support after receiving several donations before Thanksgiving week.

The Meals By Grace program provides food to thousands of families throughout the year.

The group's co-founder Stephen Daniels said their pantry became empty recently after a variety of shortcomings. He said a delivery truck went out of service meanwhile the group experienced a record demand for food. Due to those circumstances, volunteers came close to having to turn families away, Daniels added.

But once word got out about the issue, many people stepped up with food donations. However, volunteers say the food will go fast.
