Georgia animal shelter taking in pets displaced by Michael

- A Georgia animal shelter is taking in animals from a from another Georgia city that were displaced by Hurricane Michael.

Officials at the LaGrange Animal Shelter told FOX 5 the shelter is Albany, Georgia was partially hit, leaving 70 animals in need of a place to go.

The LaGrange facility has taking in around 10 dogs.

They arrived at their new home this afternoon.

The shelter says they always work to make room in situations like this.

"We've taken in almost 3,000 animals here to date. With that, a lot of these animals will be adopted locally," said LaGrange Animal Services' Chris Bussey.

If you're interested in helping out, the shelter says they're always accepting donations of kitty litter, dog food, and used towels.
