A Forsyth County deputy is being praised for saving a young man's life.

Monday morning, Deputy Pirkle with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a 17-year-old who appeared to be overdosing on heroin.

"Deputy Pirkle quickly administered a dosage of Naloxone, a drug designed to save lives during an overdose," the Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.

Investigators said the teen became conscious and is now being treated at a nearby hospital.

"He is alive today thanks to Deputy Pirkle for his quick action and training and Sheriff Duane K Piper for setting up this life saving program last year!"

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office went on to say "every life is worth living" and urged anyone battling a life-threatening addiction to get help and start addressing it immediately.
