A local Atlanta nonprofit helped spread some early Christmas cheer for a group of area children who spent most of their year fighting illnesses.

Costumed characters, festive lights, and more Christmas festivities took over part of Perimeter Pointe Monday night.

It was all part of Bert's Big Adventure, the nonprofit founded by Bert Weiss of Q-100's The Bert Show.

Every year the group gives kids fighting chronic health issues, and their families, an all-expense-paid trip to Walt Disney World.

Bert's Big Adventure has been taking kids and their families on Disney World trips since 2002.
