7-year-old honorary Atlanta police officer loses battle with cancer

The Atlanta Police Department made a sad announcement Thursday by informing a 7-year-old honorary officer had lost her battle with cancer.

Karma Lilly Little was named an honorary officer in February after she said how much she loved police officers. At just 3-years-old, Karma was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that affects the nervous system.

In a Facebook post, the Atlanta Police Department said, "Chief Erika Shields and the men and women of the Atlanta Police Department loss an Angel today."

Chief Shields visited Karma in February when she was hospitalized at Children's HealthCare of Atlanta at Emory. When she was sworn in, she received a badge, certificate, and a bag of goodies.

Karma turned 7 in July.

In the Facebook post, the APD said, "Please keep the family of Officer Karma Lilly Little in your thoughts and prayers. We love you Officer Little and will truly miss that beautiful smile; your brothers and sisters of the Atlanta Police Department."
