Walk, benefit for little Covington girl who needs new liver

A little girl in Covington suffering from birth from a rare condition is getting the help of those in her community as she waits for a new liver.

At just 4 weeks old, Little Taylor Rose was diagnosed with biliary atresia, an extremely serious childhood disease with affects the liver and bile duct. There is no cure, but there are surgical options.

Unfortunately, the first of two painfully invasive surgical procedures failed. Now, Little Taylor Rose's only option is for a liver transplant.

Saturday, the community is forming Team Taylor and is throwing her a walk and fundraiser with the help of Lifepoint Church of the Nazarene to raise money for the family to pay for Taylor Rose's medical expenses.

The benefit will be selling Team Taylor t-shirts as well as food and other vendors. A DJ, pony rides, and bounce house will also be there to entertain the entire family.

The walk will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Newton County Board of Education parking lot

The rest of the festivities happens later in the day from noon to 5 p.m. at the church which is located at 5133 Highway 36 in Covington.
