A Fulton County police officer thanked the air life crew he says saved his life. Captain Breylan Hicks got in a motorcycle accident in Fayette County in August. Hicks ended up losing one of his legs.

Tuesday Hicks met the pilots in control of the helicopter that rushed him to the Atlanta Medical Center after the crash.

“I just want to tell all of the EMS people how much I appreciate them. It means a lot,” Capt. Breylan Hicks said.

Hicks said if it weren't for the emergency medical services on the ground and in the air he wouldn't be here today.

“I've always appreciated EMS and I've known it's very important, but I've got an even higher amount of respect for them now,” Hicks said.

The crew was recognized by the Atlanta Medical Center as the Crew of the Quarter.
