ATLANTA - A young refugee in Atlanta is getting a new lease on life thanks to a brand new leg.
Twelve-year-old We'am lost her leg during a bomb explosion in the Gaza Strip in 2014. Now, three years later, she's come to Atlanta to be fitted for a new and improved prosthetic leg.
The charity Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, which works as a nonprofit humanitarian organization helping children in the Middle East, brought We'am to Atlanta.
She was fitted with the new leg with the help of Georgia Prosthetics and the Atlanta nonprofit Childspring International.
We'am is currently learning to walk again while living with a volunteer host family in Atlanta.
