A touching memorial at Emory University this weekend.

Hundreds of quilt panels from the National Aids Quilt on display.

Each panel honors the life of a person who died from AIDS.

This is the 15th year Emory has hosted its Quilt on the Quad event.

It's the largest display of National AIDS Quilt panels on a college campus in the United States.

Organizers said the display is a good reminder of the disease's impact and the work that remains to be done.

The National AIDS Quilt was first displayed in 1987 and consisted of a little over 1,900 panels.

Today, there are more than 48,000 panels.

World AIDS Day will be recognized on Saturday, December 1.
