Tired of the same old ice cream? Roll it up!

The FOX 5 Atlanta newsroom has been buzzing about the latest dessert trend to hit social media.  A few of our producers saw it first, and we heard the whispers: “How do they do that?”  Well, the Good Day Atlanta food investigation team (otherwise known as reporter Paul Milliken and photographer Blaze Meier) decided it was time to find some answers.

Rolled ice cream is a unique way to serve everyone’s favorite frozen treat, and was popular in Thailand before crossing the ocean and hitting the United States.  It’s created by pouring fresh ingredients onto a freezing cold pan, then pressing it flat and rolling it up in a tight spiral.  It definitely looks cool (pardon the pun), but how does it taste?  We needed to find out.

So…Paul spent the morning at Roll It Up Ice Cream on Buford Highway in Doraville, where workers create some incredible treats using rolled ice cream and unique flavors and toppings.
