English bulldog approved for special prosthetics

She's spunky, slobbery and crawls like someone in the armed forces would. Fitting for a fighter named "Pookie". The little pup came into Georgia English Bulldog Rescue (GEBR) weighing less than three pounds, with elbow and shoulder deformities.

Pookie spent the last six months with her foster mom, getting stronger. She was just approved for surgery to get specialized "blades" on her front legs to improve mobility. It's still unclear what it will cost to get Pookie moving like other dogs.

GEBR rehabs and rehomes "bullies" that are sick, abused or hurt. Pookie is a special case with the unusual deformities. Her story will be just one of several highlighted at the 7th Annual Bully Ball where hundreds will gather to raise funds for these 4-legged friends in need.

Georgia English Bulldog Rescue has helped more than 400 dogs since its formation in 2009. All donations made before the Bully Ball on February 27th will be matched.
