Atlanta costume shop extends hours ahead of Dragon Con

We’re just a week away from the start of Dragon Con, Atlanta’s massive annual celebration of science fiction and fantasy — and that means if you haven’t picked out your costume yet, it’s time to choose a character and get to work!

Dragon Con returns to downtown Atlanta from August 30th through September 3rd, and is expected to draw a crowd of around 85,000 fans for a Labor Day Weekend of celebrity sightings, panels, gaming, and — most importantly — cosplay!  In case you’re out of the loop, cosplay is the art of dressing up in costume, something the team at Costumes, Etc… knows all about.

First opened in 1990, the 17,000-square foot costume shop is a local institution, located just off of Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta and filled with a dizzying array of costumes, wigs, accessories, and professional makeup supplies.

After Halloween, managers say Dragon Con weekend is their most active time of the year, with attendees raiding the store for looks that fall into the convention’s themes of sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, and general pop culture.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken has turned visiting Costumes, Etc… into an annual tradition, and has donned some pretty memorable Dragon Con looks in the past (we’re still trying to forget his Robin costume!).  So, of course, he spent the morning there exploring the racks in search of this year’s cosplay creation!
