Atlanta area chefs sizzle in Waffle House Showdown

They’re among the most respected chefs on the Atlanta food scene, and nobody can question their ability to create delicious masterpieces in the kitchen.  But here’s the question — do they have what it takes to please the loyal and always honest fans of longtime Georgia institution the Waffle House?

We’re about to find out, thanks to the Waffle House Showdown on Saturday, March 17, part of the first-ever Sip & Savor Spring at Callaway Resort & Gardens.  Sip & Savor Spring is a culinary event presented by Callaway Resort & Gardens and the Pine Mountain Tourism Association, consisting of a long weekend of cooking demonstrations, tasting events, appearances by celebrity chefs, and more.

But perhaps the most anticipated event is the Waffle House Showdown, a competition featuring four accomplished chefs who must master the cooking standards of Waffle House

Chefs Chris Hall, Jennifer Hill Booker, David Carrier, and David Bancroft will battle each other starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, and though there can only be one champion, the real winner is the event’s beneficiary, the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation, with a mission to support Callaway Gardens.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning with Local Three’s Chris Hall at the Waffle House on Atlanta Road in Smyrna, where the chef has been deep in training for the upcoming competition.
