Lawrenceville shop puts the 'fun' in funnel cake

If you’ve ever been to a circus, a carnival, or a state fair, you’ve probably had a funnel cake.  But a local couple has taken their love of the deep fried treat to the next level, devoting an entire business to making funnel cakes a year-round, gourmet delicacy.

Kashaun and Domonique Cooper are the owners and operators of Lawrenceville’s Fancy Funnel Cake, which serves up a mind-blowing (and mouth-watering) assortment of funnel cake flavors.  The Coopers opened their Lawrenceville storefront in August of 2018, offering up in-store service along with online ordering, delivery, and catering.  Menu options include everything from the Plain Jane (which is a traditional deep-fried funnel cake) to the Georgia Peach (which is topped with warm peaches, cinnamon and powdered sugar, and whipped cream) to the PB&J Funnel Cake.  And if that’s not enough, diners can add fresh toppings including strawberries, blueberries, ice cream, and banana pudding to each one.  Oh, and did we mention savory funnel cakes like the Fancy Finger Platter, which includes chicken tenders?

Fancy Funnel Cake is located at 3059 Lawrenceville Highway, Suite O.  It’s open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is available on Sundays for special events.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken thought long and hard about visiting Fancy Funnel Cake…oh, who are we kidding?  He RAN to Lawrenceville to hang out with the Coopers for the morning, learning more about their love of funnel cakes and doing lots of taste-testing himself!
