Henry Co. teacher saves student from choking

A Henry County teacher didn’t hesitate when one of her students stopped breathing. Now, the little boy’s parents credit that teacher with saving their son’s life.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my son’s life.”

Darrell Fambro and Shiqueta Martin can’t say thank you enough.

The first week of school at Pate Creek Elementary, Tracey Canavan was feeding their special needs son, Emon, when he began to choke on a hot dog.

Canavan immediately triggered an alarm for help and her training kicked in.

Canavan and a school clinic worker continued CPR until Emon began to breathe again.

EMTs transported Emon to the hospital where Martin was grateful to see her son safe.

Martin said she always knew teachers in Henry County cared for their students, but she never expected her son’s new teacher to care so much just days after Emon joined her class.

They said they can breathe a sigh of relief knowing their son is in her hands.
