Awards Celebrate Best in Georgia High School Musicals:   Men and women in musical theatre dream of winning Broadway’s stop honor, the Tony Award.  But before the Tonys, future stage stars in Georgia have the chance to win another prestigious honor.

The Shuler Hensley Awards celebrate the best in high school musical theatre, and are named for Marietta native Shuler Hensley, who won a Tony for his performance in Oklahoma! in 2002.  The awards are produced by ArtsBridge Foundation, which puts together a panel of professionals to attend performances at participating Georgia high schools and evaluate them in more than a dozen categories.  This year, 75 schools from 28 different counties are taking part in the program, which culminates with the 9th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards on Thursday, April 20th at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.  The winner of Best Actor and Actress will go to New York in June for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, getting a preview of this incredible show and some of this year’s astounding talent!
