Annual Apple Festival provides “taste” of North Georgia: They say just one a day will keep the doctor away – and if that were actually true, an annual festival this weekend would put a whole lot of doctors out of business!
The Georgia Apple Festival continues this weekend in Ellijay, bringing delicious family-friendly activities to guests on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual event is celebrating its 47th year, and honors the area’s reputation as the “Apple Capital of Georgia” by involving local orchards along with inviting more than 300 vendors to sell their handmade goods and hold crafting demonstrations. This year’s Georgia Apple Festival parade will take place on Saturday, October 20th, kicking off at 10 a.m. in historic downtown Ellijay.
The Georgia Apple Festival takes place at the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds, located at 1729 South Main Street in Ellijay, and admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 10 years old.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken couldn’t wait to get a (literal) taste of this year’s Festival, so he spent the morning at B.J. Reece Orchards in Ellijay learning more about why apples are so important to North Georgia – and why they’re so good up there!
