Charity football game “well-suited” to Atlanta: It’s the big game in Atlanta that’s we’ve been waiting all year to cover. Now…we’re not talking about the Super Bowl, although that one’s pretty cool, too. We’re talking about the 11th annual Three Piece Suit Football Charity Festival, featuring the city’s best-dressed men and women battling it out on the field!
This year’s Three Piece Suit Football Charity Festival is happening Saturday, February 2nd at Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark in Atlanta. If you’re a loyal Good Day Atlanta viewer, you probably already know what TPSF is all about…but in case you don’t, here’s the backstory: The event started back in 2009 when a group of friends decided to celebrate the Super Bowl by playing a pickup game of football in Piedmont Park, all while dressed up in some pretty stunning three piece suits. The idea stuck, word spread, and it’s grown each year, morphing into a fundraising event which has netted nearly $100,000 over the years for veteran-related charities. This year’s beneficiaries are the Georgia Chapter of Pets For Vets, which pairs up shelter dogs and Georgia veterans, and Battlefields to Ballfields, which provides scholarships to veterans to help them become sports officials. Although admission to the TPSF Big Game is free, money is raised through the TPSF Big Game Raffle — and this year, the raffle winner will receive a pair of Super Bowl LIII tickets!
This year’s Three Piece Suit Football Charity Festival takes place from Noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday February 2nd, with game kick-off set for 2 p.m. The festival takes place at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark Athletic Field, along the Atlanta BeltLine.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken is a TPSF veteran, having covered the event several years (not to mention suffering a few injuries with the players in the past). And since Super Bowl fever has never been higher in Atlanta, he decided he couldn’t miss a morning wearing his favorite three piece suit and playing a pickup game with the gang!
