Chinese Lantern Festival Lights Up Centennial Olympic Park:  There are plenty of light shows to see around Metro Atlanta this time of year – but a new one brings the exotic beauty of a faraway land right to the heart of Downtown.

The first-ever Chinese Lantern Festival is taking place now at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park, running nightly through January 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  The South Park area is decorated with more than two-dozen lanterns, a three-story pagoda, and a giant Chinese dragon, all of which were built in China and brought to Atlanta for the festival.  Along with these illuminated attractions, the event will also bring nightly entertainment including dancers and acrobatics, as well as vendors selling handcrafted items.  The festival is a production of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning in Centennial Olympic Park, exploring the festival’s attractions and learning more about the beautiful Chinese lanterns.
