ATLANTA - His career spans several decades, including blockbuster films like Con Air and Crimson Tide and hit television series including "What's Happening!!" Now, famed character actor Earl Billings is hitting the stage in Atlanta, starring in a Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
Billings stars as Walter "Pops" Washington in Between Riverside And Crazy, written by Stephen Adly Guirgis and produced by Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company. The show opens Friday, July 14 and runs through August 6 at Fulton County's Southwest Arts Center's Performance Theatre, and tells the story of an ex-police officer awaiting the verdict of his lawsuit against the NYPD. Billings says he jumped at the chance to play such a complex character, especially after so many years steadily working in film, television, and theatre.
Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken sat down with Earl Billings to chat more about the production and the actor's fascinating career.
