With the Georgia Bulldogs moving up to the #1 spot in the College Football Playoff, it seemed like the perfect time for #BurgersWithBuck to make a road trip to the Athens area.

After an informal Facebook poll where the #BWB selection committee asked for the best burger in Athens, there was a clear winner.  The Traveling Hobo Café in Watkinsville received the most votes, and so we hit the road to decide if their slogan, ‘A burger worth traveling for’ was true.  For the record, it is.

According to owner Amkee Ervin, she named the restaurant after her former lifestyle.  She fancied herself a bit of a traveling hobo as she took the opportunity to see the United States, living in several different cities around the country and funding her trip working various jobs, many in restaurants.

There are many burger options on the menu at The Traveling Hobo Café, but we decided to feature the #SummerBBQBurger.  It starts with a huge 10 oz. Angus pattie, and it is topped with many of your summertime favorites including coleslaw, bacon, and of course BBQ sauce. #MMMMM!

The Traveling Hobo Café hasn’t been around that long but has already earned a loyal following in Watkinsville and beyond. Here’s a secret…if you’re heading to a UGA game in Athens on a Saturday, it is a great place to stop for your pregame, tailgate meal.
