Burgers with Buck: State Farm Arena

The dining options are plentiful at State Farm Arena, not to mention better than ever. In fact, fans have ranked the food at the home of the Atlanta Hawks the best in the NBA.

It’s no coincidence that when Joe Schafer became the Executive Chef at the arena, bringing his fine dining experience and skills from Bacchanalia to a much bigger venue, the rankings and scores improved quickly.

While you can get just about anything to eat at State Farm Arena, this is #BurgersWithBuck. Next time you’re there, you might want to head up to the 200 level and check out the patty melt at the Grilled Cheese Stand.

It starts with a six ounce, Black Angus beef patty that is a blend of chuck, short rib, and brisket. It is seasoned with salt and pepper and cooked on a flat top griddle. It is then placed on toasted brioche with grain mustard aioli and provolone cheese. Then it is pressed like a grilled cheese sandwich.

The finished product is delicious, and the perfect complement to a celebratory meal on a winning night, or the perfect comfort food on a night when the home team doesn’t fare as well.

Some burger purists take exception saying that a patty melt is not really a burger. You folks feel free to debate that, meanwhile, I’ll just enjoy another one.
