As the name implies, Neighbor’s in Virginia Highland has been Atlanta’s neighborhood pub since 1985.
Think about that, in the all too often here today gone tomorrow world of restaurants, bars, and pubs, Neighbor’s has survived and thrived for more than three decades.
It is certainly a pub/bar by night with more than 30 craft beers on tap. It is also a great place to not only watch games, but also play them like shuffleboard, darts, Keno, trivia etc. But what you may not realize is what a great place it is to grab lunch with friends or the family and hang out on the spacious, dog-friendly outdoor patio.
The menu includes breakfast, classic pub snacks, and typical bar food, but there’s nothing typical about their burger. Instead of a signature Neighbor’s Burger, they opt for the build your own philosophy. They get things off to a great start with a half-pound, house-ground, black Angus patty on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. The burger with fries is priced at a very reasonable $8.95.
Now if you stop right there, you will not be disappointed, but why stop there, right? You can add Cheddar, Swiss, Bleu, American, Pepper Jack, or Provolone cheeses, and the additional toppings include straw fries, mushrooms, bacon, grilled onion, jalapeno, and guacamole.
Fancy or frou-frou are not words one would use to describe Neighbor’s, much like they aren’t words that describe their burger. High quality, tasty, and affordable are much more accurate and #BWB suggests you keep them in mind when you’re in the area.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
