Burgers With Buck: Georgia Dome

This is not your father's concession stand burger.

Gone are the days of frozen, massed produced, over priced burgers with not so fresh ingredients that many of us may remember from our youth.  We thought they were good.  We thought they were just part of the experience.  We were wrong.

These days, going to a professional football game is about much more than just winning or losing the game, it's about the fan experience.  And Georgia Dome Executive Chef Charles Walker has proclaimed the Googie Burger, the signature burger at the home of the Falcons, the best burger in the National Football League.

It is named after Googie architecture, the futuristic, modern style made popular in the 1950's.  It starts with a pair of freshly ground patties, served on a perfectly toasted bun with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and Googie sauce.  The secret is in the fresh ingredients and the Googie Sauce, and if you ask Walker how it is made, he says it has "Googie and a little more Googie in it".

When Walker issued a burger challenge to the rest of the NFL, no other team or venue was up for it, so the Googie Burger is the self-proclaimed best burger in the NFL, by default.  However, if you give it a try you'll likely find it to be every bit as good, or perhaps even better than the burger at your favorite restaurant.

The definition of a win-win at the Georgia Dome...a Googie Burger and a Falcons victory.
