ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The word Barbacoa is defined as…(in Mexican cooking) beef, lamb, or other meat that has been slowly cooked with seasonings, typically shredded as a filling in tacos, burritos, etc.
According to Scott Switzer, owner and chef at Barbacoa, it is where our word describing that great southern delicacy, BBQ, is derived. In fact, all you have to do is look at the wall in his Virginia Highland restaurant and you can read it for yourself. Barbacoa which is known, for tacos, tapas, and tequila, has a definite Spanish vibe, so you may not think about a great burger being an option…but it is.
However, there is a catch. The Brunch Burger at Barbacoa is technically only available on the brunch menu, but keep reading…more on that in a moment. #BurgersWIthBuck has your back.
Let’s talk about the Brunch Burger, and reader discretion is advised, there is a whole lot happening here. In other words, you may want to sit down. First of all, it starts with grass-fed beef. Then it gets fun when they add fried jalapenos, house queso, guacamole, thick cut Applewood smoked bacon and a fried egg. It is piled high, and juicy, so eater discretion is advised as well. A tip from your local #BWB professional...two words- Extra Napkins.
OK, now back to that whole brunch menu thing. While it is a perfect option on the brunch menu (hence the name the Brunch Burger), what if you are craving one at lunch or dinner during the week. What a quandary! Right?
Shhh! Don’t tell anyone, but #BWB is here to let you take a look behind the curtain. Forget Inside Baseball, this is Inside the Bun. While you won’t see the Brunch Burger on the regular menu, if you are really craving one and you mention that you saw it on Burgers With Buck, Barbacoa will hook you up and serve you one anytime.
One more thing, if you call it Buck’s Barbacoa Brunch Burger, you won’t get a discount or anything, but we think it would be really cool. Try one and let us know what you think.
