Atlanta youngsters ready to shine on FOX's 'Apollo'

It’s one of the most legendary theatres in the country, and now, viewers right here in Atlanta can visit the famed Apollo Theater in New York once a week for an exciting and entertaining talent showcase.

“Showtime At The Apollo” is a brand-new weekly series hosted by Emmy-winning comedian Steve Harvey and premiering on FOX 5 Atlanta Thursday night, March 1st, at 9:00 p.m.  The legendary Apollo Theater is known for its weekly Amateur Night, and the new hour-long show will feature performances from established music stars as well as the amateur entertainers hoping to win over the notoriously tough Apollo crowd.  How harsh can the audience be?  Just ask Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lauryn Hill, who was booed while performing on the theater’s stage when she was just 13 years old!  Same goes for Dave Chappelle, who performed at the theatre’s Amateur Night as a young comedian and was booed by the crowd.

Thursday night’s premiere episode will feature three young entertainers from right here in Metro Atlanta that call themselves Mannish, and Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning with them at Atlanta acting studio Get Scene Studios getting a preview of their act!
