Shawn Brown is the creative force behind Cheesecaked Creamery & Cafe, which serves up a menu of both full-sized and bite-sized cheesecakes, milkshakes, and sandwiches.

"Cheesecaked is Candyland of cheesecake, basically,” Brown says. "We do everything over the top, we do everything baked from scratch.  So when you walk in, you should smell an aroma of sweet joy."

Born in Los Angeles, Brown suffered unimaginable tragedy in 1994, when a drunk driver hit the car carrying Shawn and her sister, who were both severely injured, and Shawn's 10-week-old son, who was killed. Brown underwent massive facial reconstructive surgery after the accident and eventually moved to Metro Atlanta, where the experience of healing led her to finally fulfill her dream of owning her own business, a bakery specializing in cheesecakes.

"This restaurant, and the reason why Cheesecaked is here, is because I sell joy.  I want people to feel joy, there's so much going on in the world, and so much pain that surrounds us all the time," Brown says.

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent some time with Shawn Brown, learning more about her powerful story and how she turned a life-changing experience into sweet success.
