It's been awhile since Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken and photojournalist Blaze Meier went on a road trip -- so we decided it was time to send them out exploring one of the regions most-loved by Atlanta travelers.
First stop was Maggie Valley, North Carolina, and Cataloochee Ski Area
. Cataloochee contains 50 skiable acres, with an elevation of 5,400 feet and a vertical drop of 740 feet.
Wow...check out this view driving up the mountain!!Posted by Paul Milliken FOX 5 on Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Beginners can take lessons at Cataloochee, which offers a TBL (terrain-based learning) course, and there's a full-service rental department with skis, snowboards, and more.
Next up, was a short drive to Asheville, North Carolina, and a stop at one of the country's most beautiful homes.
Construction on Biltmore House
began in 1889, after George Vanderbilt had visited Asheville a year earlier and decided it was the perfect place for a country home. The 250-room home officially opened in 1895, and today Biltmore is open to tours and the property also features a winery and the newly-opened Village Hotel on Biltmore Estates.
Paul and Blaze had a blast checking out both Cataloochee Ski Area and Biltmore House -- so be sure to follow along with them on Good Day Atlanta!
