Georgia Aquarium Serves Up Whale Of A Thanksgiving Meal

Feeling a little guilty for eating too much this Thanksgiving?  Here's some consolation -- at least you didn't pack away more than 30 pounds of food, like some of the residents at Georgia Aquarium!

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken got a rare chance to tag along on a whale shark feeding recently, for a look at how these four massive animals get their Thanksgiving feasts.  Staff members use boats to feed the whale sharks three times per day, ladling food into the water.  Yushan, one of the two male whale sharks at Georgia Aquarium, is about 18 feet long and weighs between 3,000 and 4,000 pounds -- so he gets fed between 30 and 35 pounds of food a day.  The facility's largest whale shark gets more than 50 pounds of food per day!

Georgia Aquarium is open every day of the year, including Thanksgiving.  The facility will open for extended hours of Black Friday, opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m.
