Special Thanksgiving for Kidney Transplant Recipient

Georgia woman grateful for donated kidney

A Georgia woman who was battling a serious health problem has an extra reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving. Sara Chandler was suffering from kidney failure, and needed a transplant to survive.

She turned to photographer Brandy Angel and her non-profit called "Be the Change" for help. Angel shared Chandler's story and photo on social media. Soon after, calls and offers of help poured in from around the country. One of those calls turned into a donor who was a match for Chandler.

Her kidney transplant was a success, and Chandler came home from the hospital two months ago. She stays in contact with Angel, and says she will always be grateful for the gift she was given. Chandler says of Angel, "I'm so thankful that she gave my kids their mom back, my husband his wife back, me, my life back... There's no word to express how much gratitude I feel."

Chandler says her recovery has gone so well that she is up to cooking again, and is making her family a Thanksgiving meal this year.
