The future service dog was joined by his current foster, FOX 5 I-Team's Randy Travis, as well as his Canine Assistants instructor, Kristen LaFevers. Together, they spoke with students about how FOX 5 is helping teach Max to become a service dog.

"Our students loved meeting and learning about Max the dog," Bells Ferry Elementary said on Twitter after Max's visit to Mrs. Becky Baldwin's classroom.

The children spent time learning about service dogs and even got to witness some of the things Max is currently learning.

Max demonstrated how he will eventually open a door for his veteran by tugging on a bandana. He also showed the children how he's learning to answer "yes" or "no" by tapping his nose to his person's hand.

Some of the students read a book about pets before Max's visit and had the chance to ask questions about service dogs. They were also able to pet and love on him.

"It was really touching to see the kids open up to Max," said Good Day Atlanta Planning Editor Tanya Mendoza, whose son, Benny, attends Bells Ferry. "Some of the children were nervous, but they all opened up by the end. It was amazing to witness."

Mendoza said it was a great treat for the students during the last week of school.
