Burgers with Buck: Marcel

Burgers with Buck - Marcel

- If you haven't checked out Atlanta's Westside Provisions District in a while, a lot has changed.  This former meatpacking district on Atlanta's Westside, has been transformed into what has been described as a hip and trendy area known for boutique retail, award winning restaurants, and upscale residences.

Once a pork processing plant, Marcel is now a classic, high end European style steakhouse, named after the late French boxing champion Marcel Cerdan.  With menu items like the Bone-in Filet Monsieur and the Dry Aged Cote de Boeuf, it doesn't sound like the kind of place one would order a hamburger.  But as the old saying goes...don't judge a book by its cover.

When you think about it, where better to get a great burger than a restaurant that literally specializes in showcasing great beef.  The #RoyaleBurger (with cheese, of course) begins with two Certified Angus patties, cheese, thick-cut Nueske's Bacon, house made bread and butter pickles, a delicious dijonnaise sauce, served on a fresh, locally made Alon's Bakery bun.

Despite the Pulp Fiction and Beavis and Butt-Head references in the segment (click and watch if you don't know what I mean), there is nothing gimmicky about the Royale Burger.  It's one of those burgers where one bite can bring back a wonderful memory of a specific place and time...perhaps the backyard burger your dad used to make when you were a youngster.  The only difference is, this is not your father's backyard burger.  With apologies to dads everywhere, this burger is probably better than anything you've ever made in the backyard.  And if that's not the case, perhaps I should plan a future #BurgersWithBuck shoot in your backyard.  Let me know!
