'Stranger Things' actress shines on Aurora stage

You probably know her as Marsha Holland, Barb’s mom on the Netflix hit “Stranger Things” – but Atlanta actress Cynthia Barrett is about to take “strange” to a whole new level in her latest stage role.

Barrett is currently starring in Be Here Now, a comedy written by Deborah Zoe Laufer that’s taken over the mainstage at Lawrenceville’s Aurora Theatre.  Barrett plays Bari, a woman caught in something of a funk – and also happens to be dealing with some strange headaches.  It’s the first time Cynthia Barrett has taken the Aurora stage, but certainly not her first time in front of audiences; along with her role on “Stranger Things,” the actress has appeared on locally-filmed shows including “Drop Dead Diva” and films including Insurgent

Be Here Now runs at Lawrenceville’s Aurora Theatre through October 21st, with shows on Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent some time at the theatre with Cynthia Barrett, learning more about the play and her busy career as an Atlanta-based actress.
