There’s a level 2 risk for severe storms in northwest Georgia and a level 1 risk for the rest of north Georgia on Friday. This means that storms will have the potential to produce damaging winds, quarter size hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain and even an isolated tornado.

The latest timing for these storms will be 2 p.m. through 9 p.m., moving west to east. During this time, the main concern will be damaging winds exceeding 60 miles per hour. The strongest storms will be on the leading edge of the storm system, so once the storms pass, your severe storm threat will decrease quickly.

This will not be an all-day event, but when the storms arrive in your area, they will delay outdoor activities for at least an hour or two.
