DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Newly released documents shed new light on a deadly shooting in Douglasville involving an off-duty ICE agent over the weekend.
According to the police report, the man who was shot and killed by was carrying a plastic air-soft gun in his car. The report also states the shooter called 911 telling the dispatcher he had just shot someone who had been following him.
The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Sunday at the Walmart in the 1000 block of Thornton Road. Officers found 45-year-old Johnathan Liddell of Austell shot to death inside his vehicle, according to the Douglasville Police Department. Police identify the man who shot him as O.L. Jones, an off-duty Department of Homeland Security ICE officer.
An ICE spokesperson told FOX 5 News the agent was traveling in his personal car with his wife and children at the time of the shooting. Douglasville Police said he used his personal firearm in the shooting.
No charges have been filed.
