SPRINGFIELD, Va. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - What was supposed to be a nice thing for Christmas turned into a nightmare at a Virginia woman's home over the holidays.
Hundreds of unexpected guests surprised Molly Krueze during the holiday season.
Krueze says she bought a real Christmas tree this year.
While she put it up, she noticed an egg case hidden under one of the branches.
Before she knew it the egg hatched, freeing over 100 praying mantises inside.
"Bugs, crawling on the walls, crawling on the ceiling. Really disgusting," she said.
As much as she wants to evict the critters, Krueze is keeping them in shoe boxes.
She plans to re-home them with people who actually enjoy keeping the bugs.
"I hope to find them a home," Krueze said. "I don't want them."
But due to these unexpected guests, she plans to get a fake Christmas tree next year.
