HALL COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities said a Snapchat video of a deadly shooting at a Hall County gas station helped them track down the suspected gunman.
Thursday night, just before 10 p.m., deputies were called to the Texaco gas station located in the 4100 block of Cleveland Highway. Upon arrival, investigators found a man who had been shot in the back.
The victim, identified as 18-year-old Bryan Ramirez, of Gainesville, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators said Ramirez, an employee at the Texaco, was taking a break with a friend, sitting at a picnic table outside the store, when a Ford F-150 drove through the parking lot. As the truck passed the picnic table, someone opened fire and shot Ramirez in the back.
No other injuries were reported.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office said soon after the shooting they were contacted by the White County Sheriff's Office regarding an apparent Snapchat video of the shooting. They also said they were familiar with the suspected gunman, identified as 19-year-old Talon Lowery, of Sautee.
Lowery was taken into custody at his home, where authorities also found the suspected murder weapon from the F-150. He was booked into the Hall County Jail and is awaiting his first appearance.
Investigators are working to determine if there was any type of relationship between Lowery and the victim. Deputies are also investigating whether another person was inside the truck at the time of the shooting.
