BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. - A major accident involving 16 vehicles blocked all lanes on Interstate 75 southbound just before the Glade Road exit, according to GDOT.
The Georgia State Patrol says 10 people were injured in a 16-car pileup that shut down southbound Interstate 75 for nearly four hours.
The accident occurred near exit 278 in Bartow County. There is currently no estimated time of clearance. There is heavy congestion in the area, and motorists traveling in this direction are advised to use alternate routes or give extra time for travel.
State police say the 10 people hurt were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Officials say the cause of the pileup is under investigation.
Authorities ask that motorists use Highway 41 South or Highway 293 South to bypass this area.
